This Event is All Ages A rapper who went from obscurity to hanging with Yeezy in no time, Chicago MC Montana of 300 spent 2015 adding his vocals to some bootleg remixes and ended the year working with Kanye West. Montana kicked his career off in 2008 with the group 300, who were named after the gladiator-themed movie. 300 were influenced by the South Chicago style of drill music and added themselves to a remix of Chief Keef’s “Don’t Like,” but by 2014 they were broken up and off to solo careers. Montana’s kicked into high gear in 2015 with the track “Air Jordan” and bootleg remixes of tracks like “White Iverson,” “Chiraq,” and “Trap Queen.” Kanye West called the MC to his home to work on some tracks, and Montana made news when he posted pictures of himself hanging with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin at Yeezy’s home. As the major-label bidding war got underway, Montana dropped his street-release album Gunz n Roses at the end of 2015. His official debut, Fire in the Church, followed in 2016 and featured Kevin Gates on the guest list. A year later, Montana issued his sophomore effort, Don’t Doubt the God, followed a few months later by the Black Sunday EP. With the 2018 release of his third album, Pray for the Devil, Montana cemented a trend he began with Fire in the Church by releasing a new album each year, specifically on May 20th, a date he superstitiously attributed to some measure of his success. Early in his career, HR became interested in reggae and the Rastafarian movement. These pursuits transformed him, and he began to focus more on the spiritual nature of reggae rather than the fast lifestyle of the punk scene. In 1984, HR formed his reggae-rock band Human Rights, which has performed and recorded in various incarnations for more than three decades. Currently, HR performs with Philadelphia musicians Ezekiel Zagar (original McRad) and Josh Freshy as HR & Human Rights. Giuda
This Event is All Ages Giuda were formed in Rome in 2007 by lead vocalist Tenda and guitarist Lorenzo. Both had been members of the noted Italian punk band Taxi, but after the unexpected death of their drummer Francesco, that group split up. Several months later, Tenda and Lorenzo felt ready to make music again, but decided to start a new project; teaming with onetime Taxi bassist Danilo, and new members Michele on guitar and Daniele on drums, the band adopted the name Giuda (Italian for Judas) and began playing gigs. Embracing a sporty look (the bandmembers often reference their passion for football) and a sound that paid clear homage to the commercial end of British glam rock of the ’70s, Giuda soon developed a live following and released their first album, Racey Roller, in early 2010, packaged in a cleverly designed sleeve that looked like a vintage glam LP rescued from a junk shop. Giuda supported the album with heavy touring in Europe, the U.K., and the United States, making plenty of new friends along the way. Noted glam rock fan Joe Elliott of Def Leppard praised the band, saying, “When I heard Racey Roller, I was p—ing my pants laughing, because it’s so brilliant, so exhilarating and fun.” In 2013, Giuda released their second album, Let’s Do It Again, featuring “Hold Me Tight” and “Wild Tiger Woman.” They followed that with another collection of glammy stompers and sweaty rock fun on their third album, Speaks Evil, in late 2015. Over the next few years Giuda focused on releasing a series of singles including 2017’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Music” and a 2018 cover of Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s All Right for Fighting.” They resurfaced with their fourth full-length, E.V.A., in April 2019, this time via California’s Burger Records.
